Deep Tissue Massage in San Francisco and San Rafael
Deep Tissue

Deep Tissue Massage is a massage technique that focuses on the deeper layers of muscle tissue. It aims to release the chronic patterns of tension in the body through slow strokes and deep finger pressure on the contracted areas, either following or going across the fiber's of the muscles, tendons and fascia.

It is used to release chronicmuscle tension through slower strokes and more direct deep pressure or friction applied across the grain of the muscles not with the grain. Deep tissue massage helps to break up and eliminate scar tissue and adhesions. Deep tissue massage usually focuses on more specific areas and may cause some soreness during or right after the massage. However, if the massage is done correctly you should feel better than ever within a day or two.

"Heather, I very much appreciate your abilities, your sensitivity, your willingness and humility. You created, allowed and supported a place for me to feel safe and heal. I am grateful."

Heather McFarlin works with clients in San Francisco and in San Rafael. Heather evaluates and treats the whole body using both Chi Nei Tsang and massage. Her love for yoga, Vipassana meditation, and Chi Gong have served to bring a light and presence to her sessions. Using applied Chi Gong and subtle awareness, she can tune into specific points of tension and assist in the unwinding of the core pattern causing the imbalance. Commonly, clients access a state between wakefulness and sleep, a state similar to trance or meditative awareness. Heather especially enjoys working with people interested in self-discovery and who are committed to healing, since ultimately, the healing comes from within each person.
